NBA Camp stock raisers

A competitive event such as the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp provides lower ranked prospects an opportunity to prove their worth against higher ranked opponents. Led by Stacey Poole, here is a breakdown of prospects ranked outside the top 50 who improved their stock during the camp.

SF Stacey Poole
6-foot-5, 200-pounds,No. 67 ranking in Rivals150

One of the best finishers in the camp, Poole has an explosive first step and doesn't slow down from there on his attacks on the basket. A physical player with a tremendous physique, Poole also rebounds and defends at a high level. How high he takes his stock depends largely on the development of his outside jumper.

C Patric Young (Florida commitment)
6-foot-8, 220-pounds, No. 72 ranking in Rivals150

He doesn't have a refined offensive game, but Young does so much well to overcome his offensive limitations. His build and athleticism is superior to most of the big men in his class, and he is a relentless effort guy. Young runs the floor well, rebounds and finishes in traffic and loves to compete.

PF Michael Cobbins
6-foot-8, 215-pounds, No. 99 in Rivals150

Cobbins certainly benefitted from the passing of Kendall Marshall, but Marshall's assist total also benefitted from the athletic finishes of Cobbins. He probably led the camp in dunks and also finished at a high rate when not dunking. A long and athletic , Cobbins also has a good feel for the game as a passer and can defend both on the perimeter and interior.

SF Justin Coleman
6-foot-4, 215-pounds, NR in Rivals150

A big, strong athlete on the wing, Coleman is explosive around the rim and can also shoot the ball with deep range. An adequate ball handler, Coleman is primarily a finisher at this point. He is also strong rebounder in traffic who knows how to utilize his strength. Coaches will like what they see from him during the July evaluation period.

PF Dwight Powell
6-foot-9, 225-pounds, No. 80 in Rivals150

Powell just might be the sleeper big man in the 2010 class. He is long and athletic and has a developing physical frame. Offensively he is comfortable with the ball in both the low post and the high post and shows promise as a finisher. He still has a ways to go as a player, but his upside is quite promising.

SF Evan Smotrycz (Michigan commitment)
6-foot-8, 205-pounds, No. 113 in Rivals150

Once Smotrycz found his stride, he was one of the more effective players at the camp. He shot the ball with confidence from behind the line, and also has some playmaking savvy with the ball in his hands. His skill level and feel for the game make him a promising glue type player at the next level. He seems to be one of those players who is always involved in the play.

SG Tyler Lamb (UCLA commitment)
6-foot-3, 195-pounds, No. 74 ranking in Rivals150

He doesn't have the purest shot of the 2010 shooting guards, but Lamb does get the ball in the basket as indicated by him finishing fourth in scoring at the camp. Besides his ability to score from behind the arc, Lamb finishes in transition. He is also one of the top defenders and rebounders at his position.

C Baye Moussa Kieta (Syracuse commitment)
6-foot-10, 215-pounds, NR in Rivals150

Kieta began to establish himself as a defensive presence during the high school season, and at the camp he was on of the tougher defenders to score over around the basket. He is also now playing with more confidence as an offensive player. While avoiding negative plays, Kieta progressively improved offensively during the camp.
