Telfort set for several visits

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - In late October, Miami (FL) Gulliver Prep outside linebacker Frankie Telfort took a visit to USC. Since that time, the Trojans have remained near the top of his list but recruiting took a backseat. He helped Gulliver Prep to a state championship and is now participating in the Under Armour All-America Game. Following the conclusion of Sunday's game, he will turn his attention back to recruiting.

"I have three officials set up for the month of January," Telfort said. "My first visit is going to be to Stanford (1/9), second to Florida (1/16), and the third visit is to Ohio State (1/23). Right now I am just evaluating schools and it is going to be a late decision."

The 5-foot-11, 197-pound Telfort talked about Jim Harbaugh's program at Stanford.

"Stanford is a prestigious academic school and I feel like their sports are on the way up," Telfort said. "They are building a franchise over there. The coaches are great coaches. I just want to see it for myself to evaluate it and see if it is all that they say it is."

As for the only in-state program among his top schools, Telfort said the National Championship contenders have remained consistent in their interest for his services.

"Florida has been in the running since my 10th grade year," Telfort said. "They have recruited me the longest. We have had a couple of position questions as for what they were going to recruit me as but I feel that they really want me."

The Rivals100 prospect talked about the final school he will visit, the Buckeyes of Ohio State.

"With Ohio State I just want to look at them and see what they bring to the table," Telfort said. "I want to see the atmosphere surrounding the school. I want to experience what they have to offer and evaluate them after that."

For the athletically gifted Telfort, his future on the football field could be at linebacker or safety, or possibly both, and he said that all four schools are looking at him for a similar position.

"My playing style is kind of a hybrid, safety/linebacker," Telfort said. "They can use me as a dime back when teams go to the spread so I guess they are recruiting me as that. I don't know what you would call it. I guess you could call it an athletic linebacker."

As for when Signing Day rolls around and the four-star prepares to make his final decision, it will come down to which school has more positives than the others.

"I feel like all of the schools are great schools academically and that they will have the same amount of support so any school I choose will be a great school for me," Telfort said. "I think the way it will thin out will be when I sit down with my parents and evaluate the schools even more in-depth. After that I should be able to make my decision."

Telfort will suit up for the Black Team in Sunday's game.
