Brown looks at schools far and wide
Every year there is a surplus of talent in the state of Texas compared to other states.
So it comes as no surprise when players hear from schools all over the nation.
Lexington (TX) offensive tackle Michael Brown picked up his first offer from Stanford and has been hearing from a lot of other schools.
"Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, Stanford, North Carolina and pretty much everybody," Brown said.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound prospect hasn't been to many junior days yet, but was able to make it down to College Station.
"I went down to Texas A&M for their junior day," Brown said. "It was pretty good. I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time there."
While Brown hasn't been able to spend much time on junior days this year, he does have plans to make his rounds to colleges this summer.
"I don't know about more junior days, but this summer I'm going to see if I can get down to Florida. Florida has been sending me a lot of mail. Then I also want to get up to camps at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State," Brown said.
Luckily for the schools that aren't as close, Brown says location won't really be an issue for him.
"My brother is graduating from Texas right now and he's going to graduate school wherever I choose to go. Also my mom is going with me where I go. So distance isn't really a factor for me."
Brown says that while he has only gotten a few letters from the Longhorns, it definitely doesn't hurt their chances that his brother attended school there.
In fact, Brown even said that if Texas were to offer, they would be the team to beat.
"Right now, yeah because my brother goes there. I've been there a couple of times and it's closer to home so we wouldn't really have to move anywhere," Brown said.
Don't expect Brown to wait until signing day to make his decision as he has good reason to have it done before then.
"I'm planning on graduating early," Brown said. I'm in the classes I need to be in to graduate early, so hopefully by December I'll have it all wrapped up."
Brown's commitment could turn into a very nice Christmas present "all wrapped up" for some lucky team.
