Irish land Adams

Notre Dame hosted Josh Adams during the Irish Invasion, getting the three-star running back from Warrington, Pa., on campus for the first time. The impression was so strong that the Central Bucks High School running back wrapped up his recruitment barely a week later.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete committed to Notre Dame on Monday, choosing the Irish over finalists Penn State, Pittsburgh and Stanford.

Adams suffered a torn ACL during his junior season that Central Bucks head coach Dan Rackovan said has returned to full strength. Adams is expected to return to action this fall for his senior season. He did not work out at the Irish Invasion.

"His potential, both size and athletically are off the charts," Rackovan told Irish Illustrated earlier in the process. "He's a very explosive kid, a finisher. And above all else, he's a great kid. He's a really good student, a leader in the school, all the things you'd want to be a part of your football team."

Rackovan provided the Irish with a connection to Adams through the high school head coach's background, which went back to being a graduate assistant at Penn alongside Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand. Hiestand recruits Pennsylvania for Notre Dame and visited the school.

"I know that he is a very sincere person, he's a no B.S. type of guy and will tell you exactly how he feels," Rackovan said. "I think he relates well to student-athletes and there's no question where he's coming from, ever. I think that's really important."

The Adams commitment kicks off a potentially busy week for Notre Dame on the recruiting front with three-star cornerback Ashton White, four-star linebacker Justin Hilliard, four-star defensive end Jashon Cornell and four-star wide receiver Miles Boykin all potentially on the verge of making commitments. The Irish are the presumed leaders for White and Boykin.

In Adams, the Irish get their first running back in the current recruiting class and 15th verbal commitment overall. After not signing a running back last cycle, the Adams pledge figures to be part of a two-man haul at the position this cycle. Notre Dame continues a handful of national backs, among them Soso Jamabo, Dexter Williams and Ty'Son Williams.

Look for more on Adams' commitment later today on Irish Illustrated.
