Prospects line up for BC junior day

Early this month EagleAction.com reported on a large number of prospects that had received invitations from the Eagles to attend BC's January junior day. Many of those receiving invites have already sent their RSVP in and we've got the latest.

Remember, this is not an official list but it's based on our best information. There will surely be other recruits that commit to attending this event in the next couple of weeks. Conversely, don't be surprised if some guys you see below decide they can't make it after all.

Quarterbacks to attend

So far at least three quarterbacks have made it clear that they plan on attending the junior day -- Brendan Marshall, Alex Girvan and Kyle Yocum.

Marshall is the most heralded of that bunch and the 6-foot-5, 210-pound pro-style passer from Olney (Md.) Good Counsel already has verbal offers from UVa and Cal. He has told us that BC has shown good interest and he will make the trip with an open mind.

Girvan and Yocum, of Christchurch (Va.) and Reading (Pa.) Exeter Township respectively, are still waiting for their first offers to come in. Girven is more of a conventional pro-style passer wihle Yocum is a 6-foot-4, 210-pound player that could be recruited as an athlete who could grow into other positions.

There are still plenty of quarterbacks out there with invitations who don't seem to have made their plans yet. Don't shut the door on them just yet.

We'll also throw Aaron Bailey in here as a quarterback. The athletic dual-threat from Bolingbrook (Ill.) has the most impressive early offer list of any prospect you will on the early list of those attending and BC is one of those schools that has offered.

Skill position talent abounds

Josh Tapscott, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound all-purpose back out of Pottsville (Va.) Kettle Run, is one of the top skill position players that will be in town. Though he's not huge Tapscott runs with a lot of power and has a nice ceiling.

A couple of under-the-radar running backs in town will be Michael Warren of De La Salle (Minn.) local back Vincent Burton from Blue Hills Regional.

At least three quality wide receiver prospects are planning on making the trip to BC for the weekend, including Kyle Queiro, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect from Bergen Catholic (N.J.) that the Eagles have been in contact with. One of the others in John Tsimis, another receiver for Bergen Catholic, and they will be joined by sleeper Brandon Ravenel out of Virginia, who we're hearing could be a darkhorse candidate for an early offer.

The only tight end that we know has RSVP'ed is Illinois native Nathan Marcus, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound target with offers from Boston College and Toledo. The Eagles have a great chance to build an early lead with him.

Offensive linemen stealing the show

It's still early but it looks like there will be more talented offensive linemen at the junior day than prospects at any other position.

John Montelus is one of Massachusetts' top offensive linemen in recent memory with several early offers and he has committed to attending.

Montville (Conn.) lineman Jacob Basilica will also make the short trip and he's another potential early offer candidate. If BC offers Basilica he would consider an early decision.

Chasz Wright will make the trip and while the 6-foot-5, 240-pound lineman seems undersized another Virginia native (Win Homer) proved this year that's not always an obstacle to an offer.

Center prospect Tony Bonadies has an early offer from Bryant and the Garden State lineman is hoping to pick up an offer from BC. He has been active in visiting schools like BC and UConn early, and this will be a return trip for him.

Another center, Cody Collins of Kettering (Ohio) Archbishop Alter, will also be looking for an offer.

Local lineman Jack McDonald will make another trip to BC.

Don't forget the D-Line ...

It looks like the Eagles have convinced several potential risers at defensive end to check out the school as well.

Shakir Soto and Nick Arcidiacono, two Pennsylvanians out of G.A.R. Memorial and Archbishop Wood Catholic respectively, will make the drive. Neither has offers yet but it wouldn't be a surprise if both pick them up later. Arcidiacono has a bigger build right now but Soto has impressive athleticism, too.

Brad Ambrosius out of Wisconsin is hearing from the Badgers but late this month he will be devoting a weekend to the Eagles.

Xaverian's Maurice Hurst is very familiar with the Eagles already, as you might imagine, and the coaches have convinced him to visit.

Plenty of back seven talent

EagleAction.com has already reported extensively on Lorton (Va.) South County athlete Oren Burks, and that's because there's a lot of mutual interest between BC and the Virginia recruit. At 6-foot-4 and 185-pounds we could see Burks growing into an outside linebacker and the Eagles have to be glad he will be attending.

Jack Cottrell of Eden Prairie (Minn.) Alex Anzalone of Wyomissing (Pa.) are more pure linebacker types, as opposed to versatile athletes, and they're hoping for offers on the trip, too.

Christchurch (Va.) athlete Jordan Wallace and Yorktown (Va.) Grafton corner Marcus Spearman have the makings of a couple of impressive defensive backs and chalk them up as two more junior Virginians who will be in town.

Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga's Devin Butler is a very good athlete and so is Monmouth Junction (N.J.) South Brunswick's TJ Taylor, and both of them will be in attendance.
