Miller will return to Lawrence
Darrian Miller will be back in Lawrence since he opened up his recruiting. It won't be a visit to learn more about Kansas because he has all the information he has. This weekend
Miller, a four-star running back, committed to the Jayhawks in the spring. Just before school got out Miller decided to open up his recruiting. He previously told Jayhawk Slant he wanted to make sure he was making the right decision.
That didn't mean the Jayhawks fell down his list. It simply meant Miller wanted to make sure of his early decision before he got deeper into the process. It happens all the time in recruiting these days.
"I'm not going up there to use it as a way to get back and look things over," Miller said. "I think I have already established I like the coaches and their program. I want to work out and run around. It does help to spend more time around the coaches and some of the players. But it isn't a far trip and it gives me the chance to run around and work out."
It really doesn't matter why Miller is going to the Friday Night Light camp, the fact is it won't hurt. Miller chose Kansas early on and going back to Lawrence can only be viewed as a positive sign.
Kansas running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Reggie Mitchell was able to secure Miller's commitment once and it could happen again. The Jayhawks have continued to show a lot of attention to the Blue Springs standout.
"Coach Mitchell hits me up a lot by email or Facebook," Miller said. "They let me know they are still thinking about me. They might even be recruiting me harder. I get hand-written letters a lot from different coaches on the staff. My mail is filled with Kansas letters."
Miller has camped at Oklahoma and Missouri. His most recent offer came from Minnesota. He doesn't even know if he will go to other camps or visits after Kansas.
"I'm just focusing on my senior season right now," he said. "If something comes up I will decide then. Right now I don't have anything planned."
The Jayhawks have also offered Bernard Thomas from Blue Springs. Another player from Blue Springs starting to get attention is Jordan Nubine.
"We went to the OU camp and he showed what he can do," Miller said of Nubine. "People were saying a lot of good things about him."
Nubine is expected to attend the Kansas camp with Miller.
