Army Bowl in Showcase Spotlight

Rivals.com has teamed up with All Star Video Sports for a new weekly feature on the top recruits and the top high school teams in the Kansas City area. Every week, AllStarVideoSports.com will release the week's show, hosted by Nick McCabe of Sports Radio 810 WHB and Rivals.com national recruiting editor Jeremy Crabtree.

There was too much news to fit into one segment this week, so this week's episode is broken up into two different segments.

Part I of the show focuses on the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour's two stops in Kansas City to honor Liberty, Mo., four-star receiver Marcus Lucas and four-star athlete Justin McCay of Shawnee (Kan.) Bishop Miege.

Both were officially selected to play in the Army Game at news conferences in front of their friends, family, teammates and coaches. McCay and Lucas both talked about what an honor it was to be selected to the game and how they will both represent their schools and communities. Lucas even opened up a little bit about the latest with his recruitment.

The Spotlight also shines on Miege coach Tim Grunhard, who played in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs and at Notre Dame in college.

Grunhard was selected as an assistant coach in the Army Game, and he proudly talks about this being one of his career's biggest accomplishments.

Part II takes us back on to the football field to break down Blue Spring's big victory over Liberty last week, which included monster performances from junior running back Darrian Miller, senior quarterback Jared Lanpher and Kansas-bound receiver Keeston Terry.

Raymore (Mo.) Peculiar also had a big victory last Friday night thanks to the play of junior quarterback Cameron Coffman. With offers already from Kansas State and Nebraska on the table, Coffman is sure to be one of the area's best recruits next year.

Then on the Kansas side, junior quarterback Bubba Starling stole the show for Gardner Edgerton in a big victory over Overland Park St. Thomas Aquinas, but he's not the only Trailblazer junior that will be heavily recruited.
