Spring Tour: Miami Monsignor Pace High School
On Tuesday afternoon our spring road tour continued with a stop at Monsignor Pace High School. Pace went 11-3 last fall, and return 13 starters to a team that lost in the state semifinals. Colleges from around the country have stopped by to view their 2010 prospects.
Top 2010 Prospects:
Stephen Morris - Quarterback
The 6 foot 2, 186-pound Morris is arguably the top quarterback prospect in South Florida this year. He runs extremely well and has a strong arm. Last fall he threw for 2005 yard and 19 touchdowns. Right now his only offers are from FIU and Central Michigan, but Purdue, Michigan, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin are some schools looking at him closely this spring.
DeAndre Johnson - Running Back
The 5 foot 8, 205-pound Johnson is a powerful runner and one of the more underrated running backs in Florida. He currently has offers from Iowa and Duke, but more should be on the way. Johnson won the state title in the shot put this past weekend.
Issac Dixon - Linebacker
The 5 foot 11, 185-pound Dixon doesn't have ideal size for a linebacker but he can run. Dixon was a member of Pace's 1600 meter relay team that won a state title. He was 1st team All Dade County last fall. Dixon currently has offers from Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Oregon, South Florida and Illinois State.
Kendall Montgomery - Tight End/Defensive End
The 6 foot 6, 230-pound Montgomery is one of the more physically impressive looking athletes you will see. He is still new to football as this is only his second year playing. Right now he is raw in running routes, but he can catch the football.
Isaiah Williams - Wide Receiver/Linebacker/Safety
The 6 foot 2, 195-pound Williams transferred in from Miami Springs and should have an immediate impact on offense and defense. Williams plays with a definite mean streak which seems to indicate his future will be on defense.
Zachary Soto - Offensive Tackle
The 6 foot 6, 235-pound Soto started at left tackle last fall for Pace and will be doing the same this fall. He is their best offensive lineman, but the concern is how much weight he will be able to add to his upper body.
Johnathan Ragoo - Offensive Line
The 6 foot 7, 360-pound Ragoo is a mountain of a player. He needs to lose some weight and improve his feet, but his size is very intriguing.
Nomondo Harris - Cornerback
Harris is a big corner at 6 foot, 172-pounds that colleges like and he has a 3.9 gpa. He looked very good in drills, showing good speed.
Top 2011 prospect:
Jabari Gorman - Safety
The 5 foot 11, 170-pound Gorman is making an argument to be the best safety in Dade County regardless of class. He also is their big play threat at Wide Receiver.
Miami Pace will host Miami Booker T. Washington in their spring game on May 21st.
