NC Safety Plans Summer Visit

Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley safety David Amerson picked up a Gamecock offer around a month ago, and has now racked up around 15 offers. The 6-foot-3 athlete recently participated in the Shrine Bowl Combine in Burlington.

A host of programs have come by to check up on the talented safety.

"It's picked up," he told GamecockCentral.com. "I had a lot of schools come to my school and everything and talk to my coach about me."

The final Shrine Bowl Combine was held Saturday in Burlington, North Carolina and Amerson had an impressive performance.

"I think I did pretty good," he said. "I improved on almost all of my testing. I ran a 4.48 in the 40 and a 4.15 was my best in the shuttle. My vertical leap was 35 inches and I did ten reps of 185 on the bench press."

Amerson talked about his offer list.

"The newest are South Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Stanford," he said.

The Tar Heel State native has come up with 3 schools that are currently at the top for him.

"My top three are Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and NC State," he said. "I just have good chemistry with all of the coaches and I feel comfortable with them."

Though he plans more visits this summer, the senior has already embarked on many.

"Yes sir, I have been to Maryland, ECU, Duke, Wake Forest, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and NC State," he said. "Virginia Tech definitely stood out, as well as Clemson and NC State."

Amerson discussed his interest in South Carolina.

"They have a good program and I want to know more about them," he said. "Hopefully I can get to know their coaches more. I definitely want to take a visit there this summer."

The playmaking safety shared his personal goals for the upcoming season with GamecockCentral.com

"I want to try to have an undefeated season and win the state championship and do whatever it takes to help my team. I want to get bigger in the weight room and prepare myself for the collegiate level; do all the little things," he said.

While Amerson would like his decision to be made before the start of the season, he's in no hurry.

"I would like to make a decision in the late summer," he said. "But I don't want to rush anything."

Amerson is being recruited to South Carolina by Brad Lawing.
