Ducks high on 2011 Gig Harbor star

The Oregon coaches are in the midst of spring practices. With the end of the NCAA “quiet period” they are now also hot on the trail of the class of 2010. How about the class of 2011 as well? That is the case with Gig Harbor (WA) standout sophomore Austin Seferian-Jenkins.

Despite being an underclassman, Seferian-Jenkins is already generating recruiting excitement. Coaches look at his 6-foot-7, 255-pound frame and recognize he has something that can’t be taught. Though he doesn’t profess a top five at this time, he will have a fine five to choose from.

“I am being recruited by Oregon, Washington, Washington State, Stanford, Norte Dame, Florida, Boise State, and Texas,” listed the sophomore. “I have a verbal from Washington, Washington State, and Stanford. I can’t get a written offer until September, but they said they would. I just called Florida a few minutes ago, and the tight end coach, Brian White just gave me a verbal offer.”
