Virginia Tech has sent out a number of offers in recent weeks. One of the latest goes to a Carolina defensive end. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder holds nearly a half dozen scholarships at this point in time including one from the Hokies.
"I think I'm about to get an offer from East Carolina," he said. "Virginia Tech and Wake Forest offered recently. They both told my coach. I think Virginia Tech is sending the offer to my house. Duke offered me in the past few weeks and I have offers from NC State and Stanford too. I think I'm at six offers.
"I appreciate the scholarships. It allows me to expand my options."
What does the Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell prospect think of the Hokies offer?
"I'm going to have to check them out," he said. "They are a great team that I want to look at more closely. All I know about them is that two kids from Charlotte, Butler went there, Jarrett Boykin and Eddie Whitley.
"I hung out with Boykin before he went up there last summer."
Shembo isn't sure on a visit to Blacksburg in the near future.
"I'll probably visit there, I don't know if it'll be for a junior day. It might be a different date."
Over the next two weeks Shembo plans to take trips elsewhere to Wake Forest and East Carolina.
Does the Carolina prospect like anybody?
"I'm not really a fan of anyone," he said. "I want to go where I'll fit in the best. Location doesn't matter. I'm looking for a good team where I fit in defensively. I also want to go into economics and business."
Shembo is getting consideration at both linebacker and defensive end. Does he have a preference?
"I prefer linebacker because you have a better chance of making more plays, but I play both."
