Georgia DE talks about commitment, visit

Ole Miss defensive line coach Tracy Rocker succeeded in pulling several talented prospects out of the state of Georgia last signing day despite not joining the staff until less than 30 days before national signing day.

Rocker is on several Georgia prospects or the 2009 signing class and recently got a commitment from Snellville (Shiloh HS), Ga. defensive lineman Cameron Whigham.

Whigham, who is 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, said on Sunday that he plans on taking an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend and will be accompanied by his parents and his brother.

With reports circulating that Rocker is on his way out of Oxford to head back to his alma mater - Auburn - will that impact Whigham's visit or commitment if Rocker does leave.

"I've heard the rumors that he's going to Auburn," Whigham said. "It's not going to change anything. I'm committed to Ole Miss and I plan on sticking with Ole Miss. I guess you could say I'm more committed to the school than I am the coach."

Meanwhile, Whigham says that he is looking forward to his first-ever trip to Mississippi and expects to see the good things he's been told about the school and Houston Nutt and his football program.

Whigham was recently rated a two-star prospect by Rivals.com and he has drawn attention from several schools after some camp appearances. He attended Junior Day at Auburn last spring and then camped last summer at Auburn, Clemson and Wake Forest.

Perhaps his best performance was at the Atlanta NIKE Camp where he was named to Atlanta All-Nike Combine Team on defense.

Whigham said the he recorded approximately 85 tackles on the season with eight sacks and 12 quarterback hurries. He also played tight end on offensive in a limited role and had four catches for just over 100 yards.

His speed likely suits him as a defensive lineman - he reports a 4.6 (best time) but said he routinely runs in the 4.7 area. He ran a 4.86 at the Nike Camp, which was almost a year ago.

Whigham said since his commitment to Ole Miss, no one else has recruited him in earnest. He also has an offer from Central Florida.
