Miles commits to ASU while on official visit

Peoria (Ariz.) running back Jamal Miles committed to Arizona State while on his official visit to the school this weekend according to multiple sources close to the recruitment

Miles, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, is the No. 24 running back recruit in the nation, the No. 1 ranked running back prospect in Arizona and the No. 6 overall recruit in the state by Rivals.com.

Last weekend Miles took his first official visit to Arizona, and heading into his trip to ASU this weekend he was expected to choose one of the two in-state schools.

Miles also had reported scholarship offers from Colorado State and Utah.

As a senior, Miles rushed for 2,168 yards and 29 touchdowns for 11-2 Peoria. He is expected to start his ASU career at running back, but could eventually wind up at cornerback.

Miles is one of six four-star prospects in Arizona by Rivals.com and the highest ranked in-state ASU commit.

ASU has received 12 commitments in the 2009 class, including eight from Arizona high school seniors, equaling the total it signed from the state's prep ranks in the 2008 class.

Sun Devil coach Dennis Erickson and his staff are expected to sign a class of approximately 21-23 recruits who will enroll at the school in 2009.

ASUDevils.com will have comments from Miles on his commitment to ASU following the completion of his official visit to the school Sunday.
