Aboushi opens recruitment

Brooklyn (N.Y.) Xaverian offensive tackle Oday Aboushi surprised the Boston College coaches with a commitment in November and he was excited about his future with the Eagles at the time. More recently, however, he has decided to open the recruiting process back up to evaluate more of his options.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound lineman from Xaverian had received offers from Iowa, Maryland, Rutgers and Virginia before verbally committing to Boston College last month. He plans on taking a closer look at some of those schools before Signing Day.

"Yes, I de-committed from Boston College," Aboushi confirmed on Friday afternoon. "I'm planning on taking some visits and seeing what all is out there.

"I'll be at Virginia this weekend, Maryland next weekend and Rutgers on January 24. I just feel like I made my decision a little too early. Hopefully by taking some visits I'll have a better chance to see what the different schools are like."

While Aboushi is no longer committed to BC, he does plan on giving the Eagles serious consideration.

"They're still an option for me, definitely," he said. "I plan on visiting them too. I talked to the coaches about it. They just want me to get up there at some point.

"They've been understanding about everything. I told them I made the decision too early and they said they hope it works out for the best."

Aboushi, a four-star prospect, is rated the No. 22 offensive tackle in the nation by Rivals.com.
