McPhee talks about his commitment status

Pernell McPhee was all set to sign with Mississippi State on Dec. 17 and enroll in January.

But then the news came yesterday that Sylvester Croom had resigned as head coach of the Bulldogs. With several suitors still lining up for the talented four-star junior college defensive end, where does McPhee's commitment stand?

"I don't know right now, it all happened so fast," McPhee said. "I don't know. I know that there will be some more schools coming in. It's going to be very exciting what happens over the next three weeks I know that."

Signing day for midyear junior college transfers is Dec.17 thru Jan. 15 and McPhee is anxious to get the process complete.

"Right now my clock is winding down," McPhee said. "I have to sign on the 17th. I know they probably won't have a new coach by the 17th and that's just a couple of days around the corner."

The 6-foot-4, 270 pounder from Itawamba Community College got a call from MSU assistant coach J.B. Grimes on Sunday.
