Following the Future: Week Nine

UGASports.com will keep you up to date on all the current Bulldog commitments
during the fall with the Following the Future feature. We will let you know
the scores, how they performed individually, how they feel about their play, and more every week. You will get a look at the next generation of Bulldogs right

The Next Generation of Bulldogs

CHRIS BURNETTE - OL (Guard) - 6-3, 285

Burnette Says: "This was the worst loss I have ever experienced. We lost 8-7 to Shaw in overtime on a questionable two point conversion after a big pass interference call. I played good. I only had four pancakes, but they were trying to cut me all night to keep me from opening holes."

Our Thoughts: Burnette is a versatile lineman with great feet, good technique, and he will play guard at UGA. He also has a 5.12 GPA.

Next: At Kendrick Oct. 31

WASHAUN EALEY - RB - 5-11, 200, 4.5

Ealey Says: "We won again last week and we beat Metter 40-14. I think I played alright. I had three touchdowns and 218 yards rushing."

Our Thoughts: Ealey is a back with great visit, great cut back ability, and great body lean. He can run tough on the inside or burst outside.

Next: At Montgomery County Oct. 31

MICHAEL GILLIARD - LB - 6-1, 205, 4.5

Gilliard Says: "Coffee beat us 35-18 and we did not play that well. I played this game, but I was not 100 percent. My ankle was still bothering me, but I had 7 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss."

Our Thoughts: Gilliard is an athlete just growing into a linebacker. He can run, he is good in pursuit, and he is only going to get better.

Next: At Tift County Oct. 31

TOBY JACKSON - DE - 6-4, 255, 4.79

Jackson Says: Off Week

Our Thoughts: Jackson will make an impact in Athens the minute he steps on campus. He is explosive off the ball and he plays both the run and pass well.

Next: Home against Fork Union OCT 31

ABRY JONES - DT - 6-3, 273

Jones Says: "We won this week. We beat Tift County 30-14. I had 6 tackles, 4 assists, 2 sacks, and 1 deflected pass. I was double and triple teamed all night, but I think I played pretty good."

Our Thoughts: Jones is a DL that has an extremely high ceiling. He is quick, he is a great technician, and he will make the move inside at UGA.

Next: Home vs. Warner Robins Oct. 31

DALLAS LEE - OL (Guard/Center) - 6-4, 290

Lee Says: Buford beat Blessed Trinity 14-10 last week to stay perfect at 8-0.

Our Thoughts: Lee is a very strong and very physical player in the trenches. He is athletic enough to help UGA on DL if needed, but they like him as an inside OL right now.

Next: At Westminster Oct. 24

AUSTIN LONG - OL (Tackle) - 6-5, 270

Long Says: Off Week

Our Thoughts: Long was a huge get for UGA at offensive tackle. He has great feet, long arms, he is very athletic, and he still has room to fill out physically.

Next: At ECS on OCT 31

DERRICK LOTT - DL - 6-5, 273

Lott Says: "We beat Marietta 21-15 last week and we played a good game, especially on defense. They only scored one offensive touchdown and the other was on an interception. I had a good game, but it was really the defense as a whole. I had some tackles and some QB pressures, but no sacks."

Our Thoughts: Lott could be the most athletic lineman in Georgia. He has great size, feet, athleticism, and potential. He needs to continue to learn the position, improve his technique, and add strength, but his future is bright.

Next: Away at Etowah Oct. 31

JORDAN LOVE - Corner - 6-0, 185, 4.43

Love Says:"We won last week 42-0 and I had 128 all purpose yards on offense. I returned a punt for 58 yards and I also had 8 tackles on defense."

Our Thoughts: Love is a big corner that plays very physical. He grew up playing RB, so that toughness translates over to the corner position. He has good hips and athleticism too.

Next: Home vs. Hermitage Oct. 31

Arthur Lynch - TE - 6-5, 240, 4.7

Fontaine Says: "I had a concussion from practice earlier in the week, so I did not play last week, but we beat Bedford 21-7. I am doing fine now, but I did not find out about the concussion until last Wednesday night at the ER."

Our Thoughts: Lynch is the complete package at tight end. He has the size everyone looks for and he has soft hands and nice blocking skills.

Next: Bridgewater-Raynham on Oct. 31.

Mettenberger Says: "We got spanked last week 49-7 by Eastside. I had a 70 yard touchdown pass, but I also got sacked 8 times. I threw some good passes and about 5 were dropped, but I had around 150 yards passing."

Our Thoughts: Mettenberger is a true gunslinger at QB. He has one of the strongest arms in the country, he has no problems seeing down field, and he can make any throw.

Next: At Jackson County Oct. 31

DEXTER MOODY - LB - 6-1, 205, 4.5

Moody Says: "We played a good game and we won 40-14. I had a touchdown on offense and I had some rushing yards too. On defense, I had about 9 tackles, a sack, and a couple nice hits."

Our Thoughts: Moody is one of the top athletes in Georgia. He plays the game at a high speed and very aggressive. He loves to hit and attack.

Next: At Montgomery County Oct. 31

AARON MURRAY - QB - 6-1, 205, 4.64

Murray Says: Murray is out with an injury, but Plant won 50-14.

Our Thoughts: Murray may be the most accurate QB in the country. He throws with touch, he is very consistent, he is a winner, and he brings a lot to the table.

Next: At home vs. Chamberlian Oct. 31

CHASE VASSER - LB - 6-4, 219, 4.58

Vasser Says: "We got smacked around by North Hall last week and they beat us 55-24. We came out playing well and it was only 21-10 at the half, but everything that could wrong went wrong in the second half. They only ran the ball at me three times and I finished with around 8 or 9 tackles this game."

Our Thoughts: Vasser looks the part physically and he plays with a lot of intensity. He has great range, very good speed, and he is really coming into his own at linebacker.

Next: Hosting West Forsyth Oct. 31

SHAWN WILLIAMS - Safety - 6-1, 200, 4.5

Williams Says: "We played okay, but we got our first win over Albany 7-0. I had 7 tackles and a couple of big hits on defense. I had a couple of runs on offense when they put me at quarterback too."

Our Thoughts: Williams is a very athletic safety. He has great ball skills, he can play inside the box against the run, and he can drop back into coverage. He looks like a LB, but is a very sound safety.

Next: At Mitchell-Baker Oct. 31

Rantavious Wooten - WR - 5-10, 158, 4.5

Wooten Says: "We won last week 50-0 against Archbishop McCarthy. I only played about 2 quarters and I had 3 receptions for 127 yards and I scored 2 touchdowns.".

Our Thoughts: Wooten is exactly what Georgia needs in this class. He is someone very dangerous in space that that makes people miss. He plays bigger than his size and he has great quickness and acceleration.
