Lattimore makes the call
Just two days after receiving a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes, Florida tight end Justin Lattimore has decided that he is headed to Iowa. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Lattimore, who attends Gaither High School in Tampa, spoke with Iowa assistant coach Rick Kaczenski a short time ago and gave him the news.
Kaczenski was in Tampa this past weekend during Iowa's bye week to watch Lattimore play in person, which led to the scholarship offer. While the Hawkeyes' interest just heated up in recent days, the coaching staff has been in contact since June.
In committing to Iowa, Lattimore is deciding sight unseen as his official visit is not for another three weeks. The two-star prospect looks forward to seeing his future school and watching the Hawkeyes play against Purdue on November 15.
Through eight games this season, Lattimore has 18 catches for 338 yards and two touchdowns playing in a primarily run-based offense. With his college decision out of the way, he looks forward to focusing on leading Gaither into the playoffs.
Lattimore is the ninth verbal commitment for the Hawkeyes in the recruiting class of 2009.
