New Dawg Wooten breaks decision down

New Georgia Bulldog Rantavious Wooten makes a lot of noise on the field when the lights are shining down on him, but he is a very quiet young man when not playing football. The Belle Glades (Fla.) Glades Central playmaker made headlines on Monday when it was announced that he was heading for UGA, not LSU.

On August 29, Wooten gave the LSU Tigers his verbal commitment. Many were surprised by that news because Georgia was thought to be the leader for him at that time.

Since that commitment, Wooten has laid low and hasn't talked much about recruiting. All of the sudden, about a week ago, the word started to get out that the 5-foot-10, 160 pound receiver was going to visit the University of Georgia officially over the weekend.

Once the visit was confirmed, all eyes were on Wooten to see if anything would come from this visit. Well, there was some rumblings Sunday afternoon that Wooten had switched his commitment from LSU to Georgia. Wooten then confirmed that on Monday morning when UGASports.com broke the news that he did make a switch from the Tigers to the Dawgs.

Wooten says this was not planned, but something he felt right about doing.

"The whole visit was really kind of a last minute thing," said Wooten. "I had talked to the Georgia coaches about it and it was set up pretty quick."

"I did not think I would change my mind when I was up there, but it is just something that just happened. Everything at Georgia really blew my mind. I loved it up there, I have a great opportunity there, and I felt it was the right place for me."

His host was senior receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and they got along great. Listening to Massaquoi and getting to know some other current Bulldogs helped him make his decision.

"Mohamed really told me how it is at Georgia. He was like the coaches, he did not try to make it sound better than it is, but he just told me to come in and work, and then I will have a chance to play."
