Future Dawg draws praise from Prunty
Hargrave Head Coach Robert Prunty has been the top guy at HMA for seven years, but he has been part of that coaching staff longer than that. Before taking over the head coaching job, he coached former UGA star and current New Orleans Saint Charles Grant as the defensive line coach. Prunty now has Toby Jackson who is headed for Athens. He says Jackson is like Grant and he expects big things from him between the hedges.
We sat down with Coach Prunty recently when we spent some time up on the Hargrave Military Academy campus in Chatham (VA) last week.
You can watch the full interview with Coach Prunty HERE.
Hargrave is where you will find the top Prep School prospects year after year. They just don't produce one or two, but they produce dozens of top Division I recruits on a yearly basis.
Out of the Rivals Prep School Top 50 that was released last week, 28 are from Hargrave and that includes 14 out of the top 20.
He is happy to get the quality young men that he gets to help on and off the field.
"We have been very fortunate. We have a lot of good players up here this year too and I just thank God for giving us the opportunity to go out there and recruit some kids that think enough of us to come here. Most of all, I want to thank the high school coaches for working with us and allowing their kids to come compete with us," said Prunty.
The talent there will be going their own way after they get their academics squared away and they will send prospects all over the country. Many will head to ACC and SEC schools and Texas and Southern Cal will top signees on campus as well.
