Cyclones in the fight for Kight

Lithonia (Ga.) Martin Luther King linebacker Joel Kight has seen the recruiting process play out first hand when his brother, former Florida wide receiver Kelvin Kight, went through it several years back. Now, the younger Kight has over 20 total scholarship offers to his credit and is using the knowledge gleaned from his brother's recruitment to approach his own.

Boston College, UAB, Duke, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and Connecticut are just a sampling of the teams that have already offered the 5-foot-9, 200-pound Kight. Among his most recent offers was one from Iowa State.

"That came through during the summer. I talked to the coach and he let me know they offered," Kight reported. "I am happy about all the offers I get because it always feels good to be wanted. When I got their offer I was really excited. I've got to find out more about Iowa State. I don't know too much about them, but I will learn more."

Listed as a linebacker, Kight said some teams have also talked about the possibility of playing strong safety or even running back at the college level. He has started out his senior season strong, leading his 2-1 Martin Luther King team in tackles and recording three sacks thus far.
