Four-Star Lineman To See Vols This Week

Tennessee has been incredibly busy on the recruiting front this offseason, leaving the month of June with 11 commitments in the 2009 class. Three of those commitments are from offensive line prospects, but the Vols most definitely have room for more big bodies up front. One player at, or near, the top of the offensive line wish-list is Washington D.C. prospect Peter White.

White (6-foot-5, 340 pounds), from St. John's College High is one of the most sought-after offensive lineman on the East Coast and a player Tennessee has had targeted since early in the process.

Those efforts have apparently paid off at least to some degree as evidenced by White's travel plans, which he tells us include a scheduled trip to Knoxville this week.

While White's offer-list is as lengthy-consisting of programs such asFlorida, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Miami, NC State and Maryland among others-he hasn't made a huge tour of prospective suitors the way many of his peers have.

To this point his only summer travel has consisted of camps at Virginia and Maryland. That would seem to make this week's visit to Knoxville more significant than it might be for some recruits on the board.

White attends the same high school that Tennessee linebacker Rico McCoy came to Knoxville from.

Rivals.com rates White as a four-star prospect, the No. 6 offensive guard in the 2009 class and also as the nation's strongest offensive lineman.
