Moss won't forget early I-State offer

Four-star Rockwall (Tex.) Heath linebacker Austin Moss has had a very eventful spring. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound 'backer followed his father, Mickey Moss, from South Garland to Heath in March after his father took the head job there. On top of that, the recruiting floodgates have continued to stay open and offers are pouring in.

As of June 1, Moss reported that he was up to 17 total scholarship offers with some of the latest coming from Oklahoma State, Rice and Tennessee. He is still talking frequently from Texas A&M and expects one from the Aggies in the not too distant future.

Despite the recent flurry of offers, though, Moss has not forgotten those schools who were among the first to extend him an offer including Iowa State with whom he has kept in close contact.

"I still get letters and stuff," Moss said. "Coach (Gene) Chizik called me and I'm supposed to call him back pretty soon and then (keep in touch) every week or every other week. I talked with Coach (Wayne) Bolt several times."

Moss had previously met Iowa State head coach Chizik when he took a visit to Ames during spring break. That meeting spurred his interest in the Cyclones even further.

"They're up there. I have a really good interest in Iowa State," Moss said. "I loved (meeting Chizik). I got to know his wife and the rest of his family - great people. Just as a guy, not just a coach, he really stands out and I respect him. It was cool meeting him and talking to him."
