Jones will be in Norman next week

There was no bigger surprise early this week than when broke the news of Wagoner, Okla. standout Gus Jones picking up an offer from the Sooners. The news was not only surprising to Sooner fans, and recruiting reporters everywhere but somewhat to Bulldogs head coach Dale Condict. The pursuit of one of his linebackers is nothing new to Condict who coached current Sooner back-up Brandon Crow.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound two-way star for Wagoner received a long look from Sooners defensive coordinator Brent Venables roughly two weeks back and on Sunday evening decided to act on what he saw.

"We got that deal done last night, I talked to coach Venables last night and we talked for a little while and he let me know they wanted to extend an offer to Gus," Condict said. "Of course we are more than excited. It's the first state school to make an offer to him."

As mentioned Condict coached one current Sooner linebacker and sees a lot of similarities between his former pupil and his current one.
