Offers equal options for LaLota
Anthony LaLota has plenty of offers to keep him busy for the remainder of his recruitment process. Enough, in fact, to keep him from making a fair breakdown of what his current top-three schools would be.
The 6-foot-6, 260-pound defensive end out of Princeton (N.J.) Hun School has offers from around 20 schools, including Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Michigan State, and others.
LaLota, a Rivals250 for the class of 2009 currently ranked at No. 105, said he hasn't visited enough schools to make a fair assessment as to what his current top institutions are.
"No, I wouldn't say (I have a top-three) right now," LaLota said.
LaLota has yet to take a visit to Columbus to see Ohio State, but the senior-to-be said he is quite interested in what the Buckeyes have to offer. The four-star recruit said he plans on pursuing a business degree once reaching a college, giving programs that have a solid business program a leg-up.
"I would say I am interested in them right now," said LaLota, who registered 40 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles his junior season. "I am still in the process of researching them academically and seeing what they have to offer in terms of their business program and things like that, but I would say right now I am interested."
Despite having a collection of the nation's best football programs after him, LaLota said he wouldn't classify it as a stressful time.
"I would I am just enjoying the process right now," LaLota said. "At times it can get a little hectic with all of the different coaches coming in so I am just evaluating things and taking my time right now."
Though LaLota did say he didn't have solid top-three, certain schools that he has visited have admitted stuck out to him.
"I can speak about the schools that I have been to because I know what they look like and things like that," LaLota said. "I was really impressed with Virginia, Florida, and Notre Dame. I would say that those schools have strong football teams and also good academic schools, so those are three places that I was pretty impressed with."
With a high number of schools offering LaLota a scholarship, he did admit he wasn't going to be able to make it out to each and every one of them, but does plan to visit a few more schools within the next month.
"Within the next couple months and over the summer I would like to go to some schools," LaLota said. "I was thinking about going to Boston College, Michigan, and possibly Ohio State, too, and maybe just a few more, but that is probably about it."
Assistant head coach and wide receivers coach Darrell Hazell is currently recruiting LaLota, who said the two have had positive conversations in the past.
"He told me they like my potential as a defensive end playing in a 3-4," LaLota said. "They think that I can come in and make an impact and help rush the passer and try to be disruptive. He is just telling me what the school has to offer and it sounds pretty good so far.
"I think it is one of the schools I am considering, definitely."
