NoCal DB up to four offers

Things are heating up for defensive back/wide receiver Bernard Bolden (5-9, 185, 4.45) from Merced, Calif., as he currently has four Pac 10 offers on the table. The consensus feeling on Bolden he's one of the best defensive back prospects out of Northern California this season.

Bolden currently holds four offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal and Washington State. He is hearing from virtually all the other Pac 10 schools, plus UConn, Miami and Vanderbilt have requested tape.

"Bernard has incredible versatility," Merced coach Rob Scheidt said. "He played 14 games as a cornerback his sophomore season and 12 games as a safety his junior year.

"Bernard's first offers came from schools that run the spread offense," Scheidt said. "They thought they could use him in the slot or at running back.

"As a defensive back, he has been compared to Bob Sanders of the Indianapolis Colts," Scheidt said. "Because of the way he fills the alley, and delivers the blow.
