Miami DB gets two looks from Ole Miss

Miami (Gulliver HS) athlete Frank Crawford received an offer from the previous staff at Ole Miss and Houston Nutt has decided he agrees with the previous staff's evaluation.

"I was offered last fall, during the season," Crawford said on Sunday evening. "I talked with an Ole Miss coach earlier this month and he said they have looked at my film and like what they saw."

Crawford, 6-foot-1, 173 pounds, with 4.5 speed in the forty-yard dash, said he's interested in the Rebels and likely will take an unofficial visit to Oxford this summer.

He had 55 tackles last fall along with six interceptions with two of those returned for touchdowns last fall as a junior after transferring to Gulliver High School.

Duke and Minnesota have joined Ole Miss in extending an official offer.

"I got an offer from Minnesota a couple of weeks ago," Crawford said.

In addition to the three offers, Crawford is hearing from USF, South Carolina, Connecticut, Tennessee, and "a lot more schools."

Crawford claims no favorites among the three schools that have offered or schools that he's hearing from.

"I'm just open," he said. "I'd rather go through and see who shows interest and then make some decisions."

However, it's the school that Crawford is not hearing from that might have the inside track if interest is expressed.

"I grew up a Miami fan," he said. "They are right down the road and I have kept up with them and try to watch them practice every once in awhile."

Crawford said he played safety and linebacker on his high school's defense and played some at wide receiver and also can kick, but it's a free safety where he hopes to make his mark in college.

Crawford said he'll take the ACT for the first time an estimates his GPA to be at 2.5.
