James among state's best

Averaging around six to seven yards per carry for a running back is considered a pretty good feat. Averaging over eleven yards per carry, however, is simply amazing. For those who have watched Sherman, Texas running back Waymon James the last two seasons it's become routine to see him shred through defenses in that manner.

James, a 5-foot-9, 203-pound wrecking ball with speed has rushed for nearly 2,800 yards the last two seasons with 29 scores. Oh yeah, while averaging 9.5 yards per carry. While he's no stranger in the north Texas community, he was somewhat a stranger to most colleges, until now.

James is starting to pick up steam on the recruiting front with offers firmly in hand from TCU and Nebraska. Others are starting to show the gamebreaker more interest.

"I have the (offers) from Nebraska and TCU," he said. "I'm also getting interest from Tulsa and LSU and some others. TCU and Nebraska are showing the heaviest interest."

James admits he doesn't know a great deal about TCU other than it's the place where his favorite player, LaDainian Tomlinson, played football.

"I know L.T. went there," he said. "I don't know much more about them. I got an invite from them to attend their junior day but I had a track meet that day. Coach Sharp is the coach recruiting me, he's pretty cool, he keeps it real and tells me exactly how everything is."

Early on James says his top three consist of Nebraska, TCU, and Tulsa.

"If I had to pick one of those right now, I wouldn't know which one to pick."

James, who was named his district's offensive player of the year, says he has no timetable on when he will make his decision. He will be in Ft. Worth April 26th to attend the Nike Camp.
