Scott has Auburn offer; Tigers at top
Cross City (Fla.) Dixie County High School RB Rodney Scott is one of the state's elite in the 2009 class.
The 5-foo-9, 185-pounder has proven it over the last two-and-a-half years.
As a junior, Scott rushed for 2,017 yards on 250 attempts and scored 27 touchdowns. He also hauled in 11 passes for 157 yards and a pair of scores through the air. It's now wonder he was tabbed the state's Class 2A Player of the Year, and named one of eight finalists for the state's prestigious Mr. Football award. Of the eight finalists for the award, only two juniors that made the list. Tampa-Plant QB Aaron Murray, a top Auburn QB target, was the other.
Miami-Northwestern QB Jacory Harris, who threw for more than 3,500 yards, 35 touchdowns and just six interceptions as a senior, went on to win the award and sign with Miami. But Scott's achievement, being selected as a finalist, as a junior, was telling of his abilities with the football.
