Missouri OL nabs first offer

Chaminade offensive lineman Jack Meiners figured that once signing day passed and a wrap was put on the class of 2008, his recruiting would start to pick up and hopefully he would be able to pick up a few scholarship offers. However, on signing day 2008, Meiners got a big surprise from the Missouri Tigers.

Meiners admitted the fact his first offer was from the Tigers was big in his mind. He said that it was nice to know that the schools around him believed in his abilities as a player.

Meiners was one of a large group of players in town last weekend for Missouri's first junior day. He said that he was pleasantly surprised at how well the event was put on for the class of 2009. While there, Meiners got a chance to meet some of Missouri's coaches and he added that he was impressed with the coaches knowledge of the game and of the program.

While in the stands, Meiners ran into friends Ronnie Wingo and Sheldon Richardson. The three friends talked for a little about their past season as well as what lay ahead of them over the coming months in recruiting. Sitting with Wingo and Richardson allowed Meiners to meet several other recruits from the St. Louis area.

Meiners also got to meet several of the players from the current Tiger team and he added that everyone talked about one thing that resonated very well in his ears.

Outside of the Tigers, Meiners has been busy hearing from several other schools about his interest. He said he hoped to learn more about them throughout the spring and would get the chance as he made plans as to where he'll be over the spring.

Although the first offer surprised him, Meiners hoped it wouldn't be his last. However, he admitted that because the first offer came from the Tigers, there might not be a lot of time for other schools to send an offer his way.
