Athens Jr. hearing from Tide

As a sophomore, Athens High School defensive end William Ming was the leading tackler in the Class 5A state championship game, and in 2007, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound lineman is continuing where he left off - and grabbing the attention of SEC coaches in the process.

"William is hearing from all of the SEC schools," said Athens coach Allen Creasy, whose squad took the state championship last season in a thrilling 10-7 win over Eufaula. "He has visited Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee this season, and he really wants to stay in the SEC. He camped at Alabama this summer and they love his size and athleticism. He can really run for a big kid who is only going to get better."
