OL Samuelson visits MSU for spring practice

One of the top prospects in the state of Indiana for the class of 2012 is offensive lineman Dan Samuelson of Plymouth High School. The 6-foot-5, 290-poiund prospect was in East Lansing yesterday checking out Michigan State University. spoke with Samuelson and got the latest details on his recruitments.

It is a great year for talent in the state of Indiana and Samuelson is one of the reasons why. He is rated a 3-star recruit by and could move up the position rankings once he hits some camps and combines. We asked him about his time in East Lansing.

"I have been there twice," Samuelson said. "I was there once for a junior day and again today to check out practice. The facilities there are top-notch and the coaches are very easy to talk to. My parents and I both have always been impressed with what I have seen there."

As of the point Samuelson does not have a Michigan state scholarship offer. We asked him about the teams that have offered as well as some of the other teams that are showing him a significant amount of interest.

"I have offers from Wyoming, Bowling Green, Illinois and Pitt," he said. "The other schools I am hearing from include Michigan State, Penn state, Purdue, Boston College, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern and Minnesota. Michigan State has not offered yet, but it seems as if they may be close. They want to see if I can play tackle for them. They do believe I can play guard though. As a player they like my speed off the ball and my toughness in the run blocking game."

Samuelson will have a great chance of earning a scholarship later this spring or at camp this summer. We asked him about his time-table for making a decision and who he keeps in contact with f4rom Michigan State.

"As of right now I am thinking I would like to commit before my senior season," Samuelson said. "Coach Roushar is who I keep in contact with, but I also talk with Coach Staten as well." will continue to follow-up with Samuelson in the coming weeks. He is one of the prospects we believe will see his recruiting stock rise significantly between now and June. It may be a situation of once he picks up and offers from a program like Michigan State, Iowa or Penn State, several other teams will jump on board.
