Mullins thinking about two sports in college?

Football recruiting might be the most talked about sport when it comes to recruiting, but at Syracuse University Lacrosse recruiting is just as big. The Orange lacrosse team brought in a prospect named Brandon Mullins from Coppell, Texas who could play lacrosse or football at the division one level.

Luckily for Syracuse he decided to play lacrosse, but the decision was not that easy.

"It was a pretty hard decision especially since football is so huge down here and nobody takes lacrosse as seriously. I also got more lacrosse looks earlier than I did football. That kind of made it easier for me."

During his recruitment coaches from Syracuse and Mullin talked about football, but it was not about playing the sport at the next level.

"We talked about how my football team was doing and stuff like that, but we never really talked about both sports it was pretty much just lacrosse."

Despite not talking to the coaches about playing two sports it is still something that remains on Mullins mind.

"I have thought about it and as of now I am going to stick with lacrosse, but who knows in the future I might change my mind."

At this time however the stars have not aligned.

"I have thought about it and as of now I am going to stick with lacrosse, but who knows in the future I might change my mind."

Even though he will start his college career playing lacrosse he will hit the gridiron one last time before he heads to Syracuse in the Oil Bowl. The game is a Texas versus Oklahoma All Star game. Mullins is excited about the chance to play football again before he goes and plays lacrosse.

"Since I do love football it is nice to play it one more time in a game like that. It is also nice to know that I have a future in lacrosse. It should be fun to play in one last game."

This season the Orange lacrosse team has had to play a different style of play and even though it has not been what people are used to when it comes to Syracuse lacrosse Mullins is pleased.

"I think it is good and it is still fun to watch. There defense is playing well even though the offense has not put up as many points as they would like. As long as the defense is doing well I am happy."
