Jones still waiting to set PSU visit

Since receiving his latest verbal offer from Michigan back in early March, Rochester (N.Y.) Aquinas Institute defensive tackle Jarron Jones has finally caught a break from the rush of offers that littered the month February.

"Right now, recruiting is going well, it has been at a steady stop as far as offers go," said Jones. "I haven't really picked up any offers lately, my latest one was Michigan. That's pretty much it right now."

With that said, coaches all across the country are still contacting the potential Rivals100 prospect, including Penn State recruiting coordinator Mike McQueary

"I did talk to (McQueary) not that long ago, but he wants to talk to my mom," said Jones. "We just basically talked about everything and he told me next time I call to have my mom with me. She's been working a lot lately, so I haven't really gotten any time."

McQueary would like to speak with Jones' mother so she and Jarron can visit Penn State this spring. Obviously nothing has been set yet, but Jones says a Happy Valley visit is more than likely.

"I'll for sure visit Penn State, that's a definite," said Jones. "Every schools that's around New York, I'll for sure take a spring visit.

"For all the southern schools, I might go on a summer trip, visit them all at once."

Jone participated at the NUC/Rivals.com Five Star Showcase in Oakland, N.J. this past weekend. Scouts said that Jones is still a very raw prospect, using his strength and good foot speed to bull rush his opposition. With that said, he did begin to show more finesse moves as the day went on.

So what did Jones think of the showcase?

"It was pretty good, it was a wonderful experience learning from people and going against some of the top competition around. It was good to prove myself, get my name out there."

Jones visited Penn State during the Michigan back on Oct. 30, where he called the atmosphere "amazing," adding that it was somewhere he could see himself playing in the future. Since then, Jones has become a national recruit, but right now, things look good for the Blue and White.
