Ward wanted to join Dream Team

Commitment No. 22 for Georgia came somewhat out of the blue Monday when Colquitt County coach Rush Probst told UGASports that star offensive tackle Xzavier Ward has apparently decided to become a Bulldog.

"That seems to be the deal," Probst said. "He was supposed to go to Auburn this week but they were waiting on one other guy before they took him and (Xavier) didn't want to wait any longer. I plan on talking with him later today to confirm, but it does appear he is going to Georgia."

This past season Ward helped lead Colquitt County to a 9-6 record and into the Class AAAAA state title game under head coach Rush Propst. The Packers dropped a 52-38 decision to Brookwood inside the Georgia Dome in the championship game.

Ward is currently the nation's No. 42nd-ranked offensive tackle and the No. 31 overall prospect from the state of Georgia.

The 6-foot-7, 255-pounder held offers from 14 other schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech, among others.
