Black Knights Weekend Visitors Preview
This weekend, Army will again host several recruits for official visits to the West Point campus. GBK has a rundown of the ten prospects expected on campus this weekend and Black Knights chances with each
Rundown Of weekend Visitors
RB Jared Rogers
According to Tensey Pricer of PelicanPreps.com, who has seen Roger on several occasions this past season. "He is incredibly elusive, one of the best in that category that I have seen in some time. Tremendous change-of-direction ability. He has also been tremendously productive against a pretty competitive schedule. He plays for a Class 2A school, but they compete in one of the most competitive leagues in the state in that class.
I believe he is at worse FCS, but I think he could be a FBS signee. I'm guessing his small stature has kept schools off him. He has slot receiver or kick returner written all over him."
The Black Knights have a very good shot at pulling in Rodgers.
Safety Joshua Trimble
Although Virginia Tech is making a late move for Trimble, in our conversation with him yesterday, his top two schools are Army and Buffalo, with the Hokies knocking on the door.
"Pretty much it's Army and Buffalo and potentially Virginia Tech. But this weekend I'm expecting to see what my oldest brother (Jeremy) saw when he visited Army. He visited without any intentions of committing, but after seeing everything, he decided to commit that day. And I'm looking to see what he saw about the school and campus attracted him to West Point.
Playing with my brother again is an option, along with having one brother still there would make the transition easier than what other may have to go through.
When the dust settles, it is hard to believe that Trimble will not be following in his brothers' footsteps.
If he takes his official to VT on the weekend of the 21st, his decision will come a short time after that. But if does not visit VT, look for him to commit soon after his weekend at Army.
RB Matt Giachinta
There is a strong chance that Giachinta following his official visit to Army. Although Giachinta is listed as an athlete, if he becomes a Black Knight he will get his first look on the offensive side at the B-back (fullback) position.
LB Marcus Collins
The 6-foot-0, 215 linebacker does not have an offer from Army, but is hoping that will change after his weekend visit. Collins was on hand during the Army-Navy game and has been leaning towards the Black Knights ever since.
DT Tala Atimalala
The defensive tackle Tala Atimalala has been a solid Army commit for some time and his visit this weekend will serve as a opportunity to see the football program and West Point in a venue that only an official visit can offer.
Safety Alex Meier
Another commit who will be on hand is hard hitting safety Alex Meier. The 6-foot-2, 200 pound product out of Minnesota has very good closing speed, along with range and could project at the Sam spot or with addition weight, get a glimpse at the Rover linebacker position.
