Giovannelli on board with the Black Knights

Two days ago GBK reported that running back Tony Giovannelli was one step closer to becoming a Black Knights.

Well it was that one trip to West Point this past weekend that sealed it for 6-foot-0, 180 pound speed back, as he officially gave his pledge to play football for Army and attend West Point.

"I spoke to Coach Ross this evening," says Giovannelli. "He asked me how my visit (Army) went and I told him it was awesome, that I loved the campus. He asked what I thought coming there and I told him I was ready to commit and he was excited to hear that. My goal was to join the military and there is no better place for me than West Point."

The 6-foot-0. 180 pound back will have a chance to speak with Ross face to face during the latter part of the month. "He told me he is coming down to our school to start recruiting juniors on the 24th and he would talk to me more than," declares the excited prospect from Chatham (IL) Glenwood High School.

"I'm very excited about my decision and I think Coach Ellerson is great coach and the winning will continue."

When it comes to fit, Giovannelli believes that his style of play is a perfect match for his offensive attributes. "I have been following the season and I love their style of offense. I could see myself playing the "C" back spot," says the Illinois prospect, who is also putting in the extra S&C time as he begins the rites-to -passage from high school to college.

"I'm currently enrolled in a speed training program called "Athletics" here in Springfield. I'm doing strength and speed.

Giovannelli indicated that he will be a direct admit.

GoBlackKnights.com will have more on Giovannelli very soon, along with our National Signing Day coverage.
