Rebels back in the mix for return specialist

Philander Moore committed to Utah on New Year's Day.

Houston Nutt wasn't deterred.

Instead, the Ole Miss coach and a pair of assistants were in Texas on Tuesday night, pleading the Rebels' case to the first-team junior college All-American return specialist.

"He's a great recruiter," Moore said of Nutt when reached by RebelGrove.com on Wednesday morning. "I'll give him that."

Nutt's pitch to the 5-foot-10, 180-pound speedster from Blinn (Texas) Community College: Come to Oxford on an official visit before you make up your mind for good.

"I sat down with my family and I think it's in my best interests to go see Ole Miss," Moore said.

Moore, an Austin, Texas, native who also played some running back and wide receiver at Blinn, will travel to Oxford today and return home Friday. Moore said he's hoping to make a final decision by Saturday.

"I'm kind of lost right now," Moore said. "I'll be honest. …It's stressful, real stressful. But I'm blessed to have these opportunities and I need to take advantage of them."
