Poteat confirms commitment

Cincinnati's recruiting efforts got a huge boost on Wednesday when they received a commitment from one of the nation's top running back prospects.

Jameel Poteat, the No. 15 running back in the nation according to, committed to Cincinnati on Wednesday.

"Yes, I committed today," Poteat confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.

"I love the coaching staff and there's a great opportunity to play."

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound back had been verbally committed to Pitt but opened things back up when Dave Wannstedt resigned under pressure. After mulling over his options he determined that Cincinnati was his best option.

Poteat hasn't visited Cincinnati recently. He did take an unofficial visit to the school over the summer, though, so he knows what the campus is like.

The four-star prospect is the 20th commitment for the Bearcats in the Class of 2011. He is the third running back that has committed to Cincinnati.
