JUCO OL Commits
Growing up in Eastern Iowa, Dan Heiar has been a Hawkeye fan his whole life. After graduating from Northeast High School in Goose Lake two years ago, he moved across the state to Iowa Western Community College where he developed into a Division I offensive line prospect. Now, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound Heiar will be coming back home, so to speak, to play for Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes next year.
"I committed to Iowa," said Heiar. "I've been a Hawkeye fan my whole life and I told myself if I ever have a chance to play there I wouldn't pass it up. I think it was a good decision and I'm happy with it."
Heiar had narrowed his choices down to Iowa and Michigan State in recent weeks, but also had scholarship offers from Rutgers, Utah, Minnesota, Wyoming, and Memphis, among others. After thinking things over, he decided the opportunity to play in his home state was too good to pass up.
