Eugene lands offer, nears decision

Junior college wide receiver Malcolm Eugene took an official visit to Temple this weekend and came away with an offer from the Owls. Now a decision might not be far off.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver from Brooklyn (N.Y.) ASA College had received an offer from Maine much earlier in the year but Temple is the first FBS school to put a scholarship offer on the table.

"I got an offer from Temple," Eugene relayed to Rivals.com on Sunday morning. "I had a good visit here. It was really good.

"Being around the guys, they just made me feel real comfortable. I like the dorms a lot and just the way they are. They have really nice facilities here. I thought the campus was cool."

"The coaches told me they're looking for a receiver that can come in and play. They think I can be that guy. They would like for me to come in, fight for the position and hopefully start for them."

Where do the Owls rate on his list now that they have offered?

"I'd definitely put them at number one," he said.

Eugene will be participating in the Triumphant Sports Junior College All-American game next weekend and he hopes to have a decision immediately after that. It appears as though Temple will be his choice if nothing changes between now and then.

"I'm going to go to that game and then I'm going to commit," he said. "I want to make my decision by next Monday. Right now it's pretty much just Temple. That's the best offer I have right now."

Eugene plans on enrolling at his new school in January.

This year at ASA he had 49 receptions for 898 yards and eight touchdowns.
