Sumler visit to Eugene a success
People who have seen the Oregon Ducks play football know they like to get the ball to their playmakers in space. Miami (Fla.) wide receiver Tacoi Sumler will be one of those targets beginning in 2011. He took the trip west with his parents in October for his official visit to Eugene for the Stanford Cardinal game. Duck Sports Authority tracked him down to get some details.
"We landed in Eugene that Friday," began Sumler. "It was basically flying all day because we had a long layover. When we got there they had people pick us up. We actually flew into Portland and they picked us up and drove us to Eugene."
Upon arrival in Eugene the four-star standout wasted no time getting down to business.
"When I got there to the hotel I went to my room and got changed and hopped right into some quick meetings they were having. We ate a little dinner with the coaches and then went to some more meetings. That was pretty much it for the night. Players have to get their rest."
Sumler did not know what to expect from his first Oregon pregame meeting, but he came away impressed. "The meetings were a real laid back atmosphere. I liked that. There wasn't a lot of tension, everything was cool. Coach Chip Kelly was talking to the recruits as much as he was talking to the players. I really liked that. It was really something I could fit into."
Following a night of slumber for the Sumlers, the Rivals250 member rejoined the team for their pregame routine.
