Singleton: 'It's still the same with me.'

Tobias Singleton and Nickalos Brassell have been connected throughout the recruiting process.

Rivals.com ranks the wideouts the best two players in the state of Mississippi, with Brassell edging out Singleton for the top of the podium. And both elite prospects have said for months they would commit to the same school during the Army All-American Bowl Jan. 8.

But Brassell publicly gave his commitment premature of that set plan. The Batesville (South Panola), Miss., star committed to Mississippi State Sunday, de-committed Monday afternoon and reaffirmed that decision Monday night.

However, Singleton says he wasn't alerted of Brassell's choice. He found out on the Internet like everybody else.

"I was surprised by it," Singleton said. "We had talked about our top five and all, but I had no idea he was going to State or was doing it when he did. He didn't tell me. I saw it on the computer the night it happened."

With Brassell currently off the board, rumors are swirling that Singleton could be committing earlier than expected, as well. But the Madison (Central), Miss., speedster said he isn't ready to stray from his timetable.

"I'm still making my decision in January," Singleton said. "I want to visit some and all that. It's still the same for me."

While the time of his announcement is a key detail, the owner of his signature is far more important, and Singleton isn't giving much away regarding that. However, asked if his future remains linked with Brassell's, Singleton answered with a riddle of sorts.

"I don't know if we'll be together, maybe, maybe not," Singleton said. "I guess something could change, and it's possible, but I just know it'll be State, Ole Miss or Oklahoma.

"I'll take a visit to Oklahoma at some point."

The top three is a new development, as Singleton has seemingly eliminated Alabama and Georgia.

"Those three are who I'm focusing on," Singleton said.

Singleton is undecided whether he'll visit MSU for the Bulldogs' game versus UAB or stay home this weekend.

"We play Grenada Friday," Singleton said. "That's what I got next."
