Mouhon has leaders

Georgia is one state the Syracuse Orange coaches have tried to make a secure recruiting destination. In the past couple of years they have gone into the Peach State, but came away with limited success. This year they Orange are back in the state hoping for a change in luck and one prospect that they are looking to bring up north is Silverberry Mouhon.

Mouhon, 6-foot-3, 220 pounds out of Norcross High School is Georgia is having a solid recruiting year and he recently talked about who is keeping in contact with him the most.

"Recruiting is going well so far I get calls from coaches every now and then," Mouhon said. "Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Middle Tennessee, and Eastern Michigan have been keeping in touch will me a lot. All of them have offered except for Florida State."

Is there a chance that Florida State could jump up into the ranks of a school that has offered?

"They have talked about offering, but they want to see my game film first and then we will see what happens with that."

With offers in hand and schools starting to make a real push for the defensive end prospect he does have a top five right now.

"I would say since I am really looking at Florida State too and I am really looking forward to visiting Syracuse they are at the top. My top five as it stands now is probably Florida State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and then I would probably say Middle Tennessee."

What does it mean for Syracuse if Florida State does not come through with an offer?

"If Florida State does not come in with and offer than Syracuse is number one."

The Orange were Mouhon's first offer and that meant a lot to him and in that time he was established a solid relationship with his recruiting coach from Syracuse Greg Adkins.
"I would say I have a really good relationship with Coach Adkins we talk all the time. We talk about school and everything like that. He also talks with my mom, so he is familiar with my family," Mouhon stated "When they first offered me they had hope in me and saw something in me."

Being a defensive end and wanting to be able to rush the passer at the next level is something that Mouhon is looking for. At Syracuse he would have that chance as Coach Adkins told the prospect how the Orange defense runs.

"Coach Adkins told me that their defense was based off of pass rushing, so that really caught my interest. On my visit I will have a chance to learn more about the school and I am really looking forward to that."

The Georgia product wanted to take the visit he was talking about this week, but both teams are on bye weeks so it makes it tough. The coach and prospect have talked about another time though.

"I was talking to Coach Adkins and he was telling me in December would be best. I wanted to come this week because my team has a bye, but I found out they have a bye also."

Once the time for a visit arrives Mouhon will have a check list that he will be bring with him on the trip to Syracuse.

"I will be looking for a lot on my visit. I am looking to play early and I like to pass rush, I am going to be looking to see if their defense is really based off of the pass rush. I am looking at things like that and everybody is on the same page."

Right now Mouhon has a lot of interest in the Orange, but that was not always the case.

"When they first offered me I did not know much. When they offered I was excited, but at the same time I was like I have to learn more about them because they were my first offer. After I started talking more with Coach Adkins and learning about the school it all sounded interesting and I am a lot more interested now than I was."
Other than Syracuse and Florida State the defensive end talked about a couple other schools that are looking at him.

Vanderbilt:"Vanderbilt, the coaches are real cool and when I went to the camp I felt very comfortable while I was doing the drills. They were having me do the same kind of drills I do at my school so it kind of fit me."

Middle Tennessee:"I don't know much about Middle Tennessee right now, but I plan to learn more in the future."

This high school football season has started off well for the two star prospect.

"My season is going real good right now I have about 3.5 sacks and about 25 tackles. My team is undefeated right now so we are off to a good start. For me this season I want to be more of a leader on the field and I just want to win state."

Signing Day is less than six months away and Mouhon thinks he will be able to make his decision before the final day of the recruiting season.

"I am probably going to commit in late December because I just want to focus on my season. In December I would probably make my final decision."
