Scott possibly out for two weeks

Mississippi State commitment and Ferriday (La.) three-star athlete DeVante Scott was having a pretty successful debut Friday night.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder and his teammates ventured into Mississippi to take on Natchez and Scott had already had a solid first half even with the Trojans down 7-0 at halftime. But Scott was forced to leave the game in the third quarter after suffering a bruised sternum which cause some bruising around his heart that will keep him out up to two more weeks.

"I won't be playing this Friday or next Friday," Scott said. "I'm going to be out this week for sure. I have to go back to the doctor because I've got a bruised sternum and something about some bruising around my heart. I left the game in the third quarter. They said I'd be alright but they just wanted me to sit out for a couple of weeks."

At the time Scott left the game he had already picked up 36 yards on 10 carries and caught three passes for 42 yards. On defense he added nine tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.
