Mississippi's top lineman makes the call

JACKSON, Miss. -- Not much can rattle Aaron Morris.

At 6-foot-5, 330 pounds, the Rivals.com four-star offensive lineman doesn't have an issue with fear and competitive situations are welcomed. However, Tuesday morning, the lights and rolling cameras inside the WPTY Channel 16 studios stopped Morris mid-sentence.

Seconds into Mississippi's top offensive lineman announcing his college destination, Morris paused, smiled and lost all thought. But after a few words with host Christian Stenkel, Morris gathered himself and let the world know where he plans to attend school the next four years.

Choosing from a top four of Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama and Auburn, Morris said he's going to be a Rebel for head coach Houston Nutt.

"It just feels like home, and I love everything about it," Morris said to RebelGrove.com minutes after filming the taped television announcement. "I've known for about a month where I'm going. I've been up there the last few weekends and it just keeps getting better."

Morris has been a frequent visitor to Oxford, Miss., since the first scheduled junior day in early spring and has gotten close to several of Ole Miss' other commitments - especially Raleigh, Miss., four-star wide receiver Donte Moncrief.

"I'll go up there and hang with Donte a lot," Morris said. "We have a great time and really get along. It's been a cool experience with the recruiting, but I'm glad it's over."

Morris, the only offensive lineman in the Clarion-Ledger's Dandy Dozen, doesn't anticipate any official visits to other schools. He'll concentrate on Callaway's football season and squeeze in as many trips to Oxford as possible.

He said the worst part of the recruiting process is disappointing teams, but in the end, he had to make the best decision for him.

"You have relationships with all the schools you deal with and people you like at every place," Morris said. "There's just that certain comfort with Ole Miss that grew on me. I'm excited about what's ahead."

Morris is Ole Miss' 18th commitment for the 2010 class, joining tight end Jamal Mosley as newcomers Tuesday. Morris' teammate, Justin Bell, could be the next Rebel commitment. Bell said he'll decide between Ole Miss and Mississippi State next week.

"I'm pretty sure I know where Justin is going," Morris said. "I think I'll be happy with his decision."

But for now, Morris is the one celebrating the end to his college pursuit, giving his declaration flawlessly the second time it was attempted.

"I'm going to spend my college time at Ole Miss," Morris said on the Channel 16 set. "I've thought about it hard, and it's the only choice."
