Jamboree notes from Davis Wade Stadium

Saturday 10 of the top high school teams from the state of Mississippi converged on Davis Wade Stadium on the campus of Mississippi State University for a jamboree.

West Lauderdale, Noxubee County, Callaway, Starkville, Itawamba AHS, West Point, Philadelphia and New Hope all participated in the five game event. The games consisted of two quarters of play with a junior varsity quarter following.

BulldogBlitz was on hand for all the action and brings the following exclusive notes package from the jamboree.

Noxubee County 26, West Lauderdale 6

West Lauderdale was simply no match for Noxubee County's young athletes. The Tigers rushed for 156 yards on 19 carries in the game highlighted by sophomore running back Antonio Ryland, who ran for 60 yards on eight attempts and a touchdown.

Noxubee County's Deangelo Ballard and Ladarrell Hunt also combined for 103 yards. Ballard had a 56-yard touchdown run for new head coach Tyrone Shorter. Senior linebacker Corey Williams also stood out on the Tigers defense.

Mississippi State commitment Daniel Knox did not play in the game after tearing the MCL and meniscus in his left knee during fall practice. He has since had surgery and was at the game in a knee brace. He is going through rehab and expects to return practicing in the three weeks.
