Skyline DE Marquel Bryant Still Likes Mustangs

As summer continues to move forward PonyPride recently had a chance to catch up with Dallas Skyline defensive end Marquel Bryant who has been focusing on his team as of late.

"Really I have just been dealing with practices starting up again lately," said Bryant. "Also I have been working out a lot. I am just trying to get ready for next season."

The talented prospect received his first offer from SMU last spring and since that time Bryant has added five more schools to his offer list.

"UTEP, Kansas State, SMU, Texas Tech, Kentucky and Colorado have all offered me. Those are really the only schools that I have been talking to. I don't talk to one school more than the other, usually when I call one of them a call I will give the other ones a call too."

It has been reported for a while that Bryant has high interest in SMU but he, along with defensive coordinator Tom Mason want him to see some other schools before he decides.

"I feel like I am getting close to making a decision. I am hoping to decide right before my season starts. I still have not really had a chance to visit many schools yet and that is something that I want to do."

Bryant also wants to avoid having a change of heart after he does commit to a school.

"I just feel like I should wait to decide in case someone else comes in that I like better. I don't want to commit to someone and then decommit later because I found a place that I like better."

So far this summer Bryant has only made it to UTEP and SMU for camps but one more school will be added to that list soon.

"I am going to Baylor next week for their camp. Other than that I don't have any trips planned right now."

While it may seem strange to some that Bryant is favoring SMU so heavily despite having interest from teams in both the SEC and Big-12, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder does not see it that way.

"I don't look at schools based on where they are or what conference they play it. I am going on where I fit the most comfortable with. SMU has me sold right now because I have checked out the school and it was really nice and I have talked to the coaches there and I got along with them really well."

It seems though that even when he makes a final decision, Bryant will still make a couple of trips.

"It does not matter if I commit somewhere, you get four official visits and I am going to take them and have fun with them."
