Southeastern tour providing answers for Florida linebacker
Serderius Bryant has seen many schools in the past several days.
The three-star linebacker from Sanford (Seminole), Fla., has seen Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Memphis and Middle Tennessee State, among others during a swing through the Southeast.
One school, however, has stood out and appears to have built a lead in the race for his collegiate services.
On Sunday, Bryant and several other top prospects from the Sunshine State checked out Ole Miss. For Bryant, a 5-foot-10, 202-pounder, the trip to Oxford left a lasting impression.
"It went great," Bryant said. "It was one of the best trips I've ever had. I talked to all of the coaches -- (Houston) Nutt, (Chris) Vaughn, (Tyrone) Nix, (Ron) Dickerson and (Terry) Price. Coach Nix showed me a lot of stuff -- how thick the playbook is, some of the things they do with their linebackers, that kind of thing. I had a great time. They made me feel like home."
Bryant and the rest of his traveling party wrapped up their Tuesday travels in Knoxville, Tenn. They were headed east Wednesday to see Wake Forest and Clemson before returning to Florida to see Florida and Florida State.
"It's helping me an awful lot," Bryant said. "I'm seeing my top schools, like Ole Miss and Wake Forest. I think that's going to help me make my decision."
Bryant said he'll "know when the time comes" to announce a decision. However, what he loves about Ole Miss is the Rebels seemingly aren't scared off by his lack of size.
"They're not trying to turn me into a safety," Bryant said. "They want me to play linebacker. They like my skills. I'm short, but that doesn't mean anything. Joel Kight came in as a freshman at Ole Miss and he's shorter than me. That gave me an inspiration about Ole Miss."
Bryant has offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Florida State, Georgia State, Miami, Ole Miss, Central Florida and Wake Forest. He's been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.52 seconds.
