Dixon seeing a lot of action
Alpharetta, Ga., three-star defensive end Barron Dixon had a solid season as a junior.
But with the addition of a new defensive line coach at Chattahoochee, Dixon is expecting even better results as a senior. The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder is already seeing results on the field as well as from college coaches.
"This spring I've been seeing a lot of action because we've got a new d-line coach," Dixon said. "In the short time that we've been working together he's been helping me out a lot and it's showing up on the field. I've had scouts come by and gotten offers. I've gone to a couple of camps and things are going pretty good."
Dixon has already picked up scholarship offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
One school that came by to visit with Dixon this spring was MSU. Bulldog defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator Chris Wilson stopped by to check on his progress and has kept close tabs on him since.
"I actually like Mississippi State a lot," Dixon said. "Coach Wilson, the defensive coordinator, came by the school. He's a really cool, chilled back type of guy. I liked him a lot. He came to the school and called me on the phone. He talked to me about their sports management program which I plan on taking during college. He seems really cool and we talked about how it's not only about the college relationship between the coach and the player."
Dixon is planning on visiting State this summer and has also been invited to camp at Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois and Michigan.
