Martin reaches elite status

Greenville, S.C. safety Pat Martin is no doubt one of the top secondary prospects in the country.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pounder was recently named as one of Rivals Top 250 recruits and has an offer list to match his elite status.

Martin has scholarship offers on the table from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Duke, East Carolina, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin.

"Recruiting has been going fine," Martin said. "Sometimes it's too heavy but it's a blessing so I'm not complaining."

Martin seems to be building a bond with MSU assistant coach Scott Sallach.

"Coach Sallach called me and we talked for like 30 minutes," Martin said. "He told me I could come in as a freshman and compete for a starting spot and how I would be key to their defense."

The four-star prospect plans to visit the Starkville, Miss., based school this summer as well as stops at South Carolina, Tennessee, LSU, Florida, Alabama, N.C. State and Duke.
